What it costs, by the size of the group
Pricing is tiered by cohort size, so the figure per student comes down as the group grows. The table below is the current scale for the 2026 and 2027 school years. Five students is the smallest cohort we run.

- Every tier is the same course. A group of six gets the same 120 hours, the same ten assessed modules and the same qualification as a group of sixty.
- Nine months of access is included, so a class that starts in September is under no pressure to finish in September.
- A digital certificate in each student’s own name is included, along with a reference letter from us. Hard copies are available for schools presenting them at a TY graduation.
- Nothing is invoiced until you have a written quote and have said yes to it.
Figures are indicative and quoted per school rather than published as a fixed rate. Jess confirms your actual figure in writing against your real numbers before anything is agreed.

Why coordinators keep it, and what you get from us
Coordinators usually ask me what the year leaves behind, and my honest answer is that the certificate is the smaller half of it. The part that changes a student is standing in front of a room and having to hold it. They plan a lesson, they teach it, something goes sideways in the middle of it, and they have to keep going anyway. That is character building of the ordinary sort, the kind that happens in real time rather than on a worksheet, and it tends to show up later in interviews and in first year of college far more than any grade does.
The other thing worth saying is what happens once you say yes, because that is where the work sits with us rather than with you. One member of staff holds the school code. Students enrol themselves with their school email, so there is no list to compile and no passwords to reset. Our assessors mark the written work, which means the teacher covering the slot has nothing to correct. You can see where the class has got to from the progress dashboard, so if somebody has stalled you spot it in a glance rather than in June.
And it keeps going after the certificate. Students hold their access for nine months, so a fortnight out sick is not a crisis, and a student who wants to come back to the later modules in fifth year still can. Every one of them finishes with something in their own name that an employer abroad recognises, and we are at the end of an email if a student or a parent wants to ask what to do with it next.

Recognised beyond the school
It can carry a Gaisce award as well
The TEFL Institute of Ireland is a named Challenge Partner of Gaisce, the President’s Award, listed under Personal Skill. That means the same course a student is already doing for Transition Year can count towards a Bronze or Silver award at the same time, without adding a second activity to your programme.

. The catch worth
knowing before you plan the year is that Gaisce counts weeks rather than hours, so a
three week intensive block will not satisfy it however many hours the class puts in.
If Gaisce is part of what you want out of the year, run the course as one slot a week
across the required number of weeks instead.
Students still need to be registered for Gaisce through your school’s President’s Award Leader in the normal way, and the award itself is theirs to claim rather than something we issue. What we provide is the activity, the weekly structure and the certificate at the end of it.
